THOMAS H. HUGHES, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2002. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, raised in Summit, New Jersey, and a Houstonian for 27 years. Tom graduated from the University of Houston in 1993. As a "second' career, he was a HISD classroom teacher. Tom is survived by his friend, wife and lover, Dona, of 26 years; mother Jane Hughes Barton and respected friend Duncan Barton of Matthews, North Carolina; brother Roger W. Hughes and sister-in-law Molly Hughes of Niceville, Florida; aunts Edna Garrett of Amarillo, Texas; Ruth Townsend of Vero Beach, Florida, Maggie Rogers of Wascassette, Maine; nephew Jeffrey Hughes and niece Holly Hughes of Florida; numerous cousins in various states; mother-in-law Peggy Swindler, sister-in-law Terri Vidal and brother-in-law Gary Vidal of Houston; and many treasured friends and friendships. A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 12 noon at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, with Reverend Dr. Steven Spidell officiating.
