"Get'um Willie!"  Willie was a good friend during Summit High Football, 1963.  Like me, he was a practicing lineman who didn't get a lot of Game Time.  Thus, we had the things that come with that in common.  In the second row of our yearbook football team picture I am flanked on my left by Willie and "Bo-Pete", and on my right by Mike and Jim.  One can see the sincere honesty and determination in all of Willie's pictures.  What you saw is what you got with Willie in his sincere desire to do the best he could, to give everything he had on the field; and in life, with his friends.  He was another one of those guys, like Al McGowan, who almost always had something positive to say to cheer you up when you needed it; and when he practiced, he practiced hard 150%.  Thus, I really liked Willie and he was a pleasure to be around and to work with.

like some of the other folks I've talked about on this forum, it was sad to imagine a world without Willie Riggins in it, fore he was just a good person of truth and dependability.  I believe his support and loyalty to the team were invaluable, and another good reason why we did so well as a team as we did that perfect 1963 season.

I do not know when or how Willie passed away.  I only wish I could see his smiling face at the Reunion, and renew my friendship again with this great guy.  In life, I've met so few people like him.  God bless you Willie.  I will always remember your truth and quality when we knew each other so many years ago.
